An Appeal

               National Elections to the 15th Lok Sabha will be held on 16th April ‘09 for the Secunderabad Parliamentary Constituency. This is the time for you to choose your Government. You gave the Indian National Congress a mandate in 2004 and we believe we have delivered on our promises in a substantial measure. I am the contesting candidate on behalf of Indian National congress for the Secunderabad Parliamentary Constituency. I seek your continued patronage and support in the ensuing elections on the basis of performance both at individual and Government level. I earnestly appeal your goodself to kindly peruse the following and then take a considered decision on exercising your vote in my favour.

About Indian National Congress:

==============================================

              The Indian National Congress was founded in 1885 and firmly believes in principles of Secularism, Nationalism, Social Justice and uniform Economic growth. The Party has contributed in a decisive measure towards all-round growth and development of the Nation. It derives its strength from the secular fabric of the Nation.

Our Accomplishments:

==============================================

              During the last five years the accomplishments of the Congress led Government at centre have been very tangible and effective. A few notable ones are as below.

1. The introduction of Right to Information Act 2005.

2. The path breaking National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

3. Bharat Nirman Programme.

4. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan for augmenting Primary Education.

5. National Rural Health mission aimed at improving quality of Primary Health Care in villages.

6. Jawarharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) aimed at upgrading infrastructure with an outlay of Rupees One Lakh Crores spread in 63 cities.

7. The Indo-US Nuclear deal which has ensured energy security for the Nation.

               The State Government under the aegis of Dr Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy has carried forward the good work done by the centre. The results of the schemes introduced by the centre have reached the masses. Innovative schemes like Arogyasri, 108 Emergency Ambulance Services, Pavala Vaddi (loans at nominal interest rates), Jalayagnam, affordable housing for poor, Reservations and financial assistance to poor / minorities, free power to agricultural sector, non-hiking of electricity user charges, pension scheme for poor and needy amongst others have all contributed towards growth and welfare of an Aam Aadmi in the society.

               As a Member of Parliament representing Secunderabad for the past five years, I have contributed in my own humble way for bettering the standards of living of an Aam Aadmi in my Constituency. I have attempted successfully, to be a bridge between the Central and State Governments. The Railway budget which was initially pegged at Rs.230 crores in 2004 has grown to a massive Rs.1800 crores in 2009. A fleet of thousand state of art buses with an out lay of Rs.820 crores under JNNURM have been introduced. More than Rs.10 crores of funds are spent on improving the infrastructure by laying roads, cables, drainage facilities, construction of community halls and augmentation of facilities in Government Hospitals. The Passenger facilities in Kachiguda and Nampally railway stations are vastly improved. The Secunderabad railway station is being re-modeled by providing world class state of art facilities. Several new trains like Garib Rath from Secunderabad to Visakha were introduced.

                I have attempted to remain non-controversial and maintained a clean image in public life. I have been easily accessible to one and all at all times for addressing their concerns. I intend to continue my good work further. This is possible only with your support and encouragement. This is a crucial Election for the Nation. I am sure you will exercise your franchise prudently and give me an opportunity to serve you better and for a second term.

Jai Hind
